Why I started Peachyness
I hope you're all doing well amidst the Covid-19 crisis and staying safe. I want to share why I started this brand.
I'm still not sure if launching a brand during this uniquely stressful time is the most sensible idea. But, here we are. Ha! Ha!
Why I launched Peachyness?
After years of suffering from agonizing pelvic pain, I was diagnosed with endometriosis in 2019.
What a relief! I could finally put words to the monthly excruciating pain I was suffering.Clearly I wasn’t the only one: 1 in 10 women, worldwide, is diagnosed with this condition. That’s a LOT of vaginas!
Unfortunately, no cure exists. The birth control pill is the only "alternative treatment” that can alleviate pain and other symptoms, at least for me.
The problem with this option? The birth control pill has a number of nasty side effects, including vulva dryness, irritation, redness, chafing, etc...
I did quite a bit of research and quickly realized I wasn't the only woman suffering from these vulvar discomforts : 33% of vulvas, worldwide, experience similar discomfort throughout the course of their lives.
The birth control pill is only one potential cause. Something as innocent as wearing tight jeans, lovely lace lingerie, working out, or having sex can cause irritation. Pregnancies, post-partum, and post-menopause are common triggers as well.
As a matter of fact, postmenopausal women are 40% more likely to suffer from vaginal atrophy and vulvar dryness.
After experiencing these discomforts firsthand, I started looking for products to relieve these issues. I didn't want a medical cream as my symptoms were not that severe. Nor did I want a product that contained hormones or nasty ingredients which would worsen my discomfort.
Organic, vegan & eco-friendly was what I needed. Something I could apply daily, like I do my face cream.
I wanted a Vulva Balm that would relieve irritation, redness, and dryness with a short but effective list of clean and organic ingredients. So I created it.
