From the get-go, pain was - is also probably the most common symptom among women. It was certainly for me. I had pain, all the time. At first it just started during my bleeding phase... So I thought it was just associated or related to my period. But the pain would just get worse and worse and worse. To the point where I would miss school...I'd have to miss soccer games,... And then the pain actually became something where it wasn't just happening during my period. It would happen during other phases of my cycle...
What's the first thing that somebody should do once they are diagnosed with Endometriosis (to improve their life)?
I wish there was this consistent answer for every single girl that was diagnosed... If I could give you one answer for everybody, it's to first just educate yourself. You finally have this diagnosis. And instead of feeling dis-empowered, think of it as empowering...
I think getting familiar with Endometriosis, whether you buy a book... or listen to podcasts or however you like to consume information...
Just talking about it with your family and friends, you know, getting comfortable with having a conversation with your family and your friends about it and -or your partner.
How do your gut biomes interact and regulate hormones. What's the link to your uterine health?
70% to 80% of your immune system stems from your gut.
The gut has an important role to play in a lot of things and most things I should say, even your mental health.
90% of serotonin, which we know is a happy neurotransmitter, chemical, happy hormones is created in the digestive system.
Your gut's microbiome plays a central role in the regulation of estrogen. Estrogen is one of the key female sex hormones. It helps us build/strengthen our bones.
It keeps our mood levels elevated. It keeps our vaginas lubricated... you've probably heard of yeast infections? Even those are a sign that something is off in the gut.
